2011 Competition Date Set for May 14th

The 2011 Little Backyard BBQ Competition will be held on May 14th.

Last year went fairly well, so expect more of the same this year. Basic rules will still based from the Kansas City BBQ Society which are located here: http://www.kcbs.us/pdf/2011_Rules_and_Regulations_12-10-2010.pdf .

Categories will be Ribs and Boston Butt. A winner will be determined in both categories and scores will be combined to determine an overall Grand Champion.

Ribs turn in will be 1:00.

Boston Butt turn in at 4:00.

Awards to follow.

Entertainment until wee hours.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of our competitors in this year's BBBQ. There were a total of four competitors and a good time was had by all.

Alas, in the end, there can be only one winner declared and that was Pickin' & Grillin' manned by Jeff Dickerson and his buddy Steve. In fact, P&G swept the results by taking 1st in both the ribs and Boston butt categories.

In an odd of turn of events, the results in both categories turned out to be the same for all teams.

4. BBQ Haiku (Lee & Darrell)

Thanks go out to all of you who cooked and brought sides, cookies, etc. and helped out with the children. Also, thanks to the judges who gave their time & effort to eat some of the South's best BBQ. Special thanks go out to Angie who continues to put up with me and my whims (and even contributes by cooking mac & cheese and an awesome banana pudding).

Again, I had a great time. The plan is for this to be an annual event so I will keep everyone posted as to next year's date.
